28 Peggy Sue’s Rescue Part 2
Tiny Miss Peggy Sue lay propped in a box, her faint wheezing the only clue that she was still alive. As Autumn hung a heat bulb over the box, her cousin Sydney came in. Sydney peered at the still little form as Autumn explained what had happened. Sydney shook her head. “How terrible! I’m really sorry,” she said. “It’s hopeless, isn’t it?” She watched while Autumn took an eye dropper and trickled warm milk down the piglet’s throat. “It’s hopeless,” Sydney repeated, sighing sadly. Beginning course details and/or books/materials needed for a class/project.

29 Peggy Sue’s Rescue Part 2
All day Autumn went to the box every couple of hours, feeding and stroking her pet, looking for signs of life. Finally, even her parents began to doubt the piglet would recover, but Autumn refused to give up. Her parents allowed her to get up during the night to take care of Miss Peggy Sue. And even though Dad said she should be prepared for the worst, Autumn kept hoping for a miracle. She prayed that Jesus would let Peggy Sue recover.

The next morning Sydney came over before school. “Come in. I have a surprise,” Autumn greeted her. Sydney stared. There stood Miss Peggy Sue, wiggling and squalling for Autumn to hurry with the warm milk. “If I didn’t see this myself, I’d never believe it!” said Sydney. “She looked so hopeless!”

31 Peggy Sue's Rescue Part 2 As the girls hurried to catch their bus, they chatted about things that happened over the weekend. Sydney sighed as she told Autumn about the trouble she had getting along with Elijah, her little foster brother. “He’s so awful!” Sydney rolled her eyes. “He chews with his mouth open, steals things, and swears all the time. He even lied to Dad last night. I want my parents to take him back. We can’t help him; he’s hopeless!” Autumn looked at her cousin. “Didn’t you say those same words about Miss Peggy Sue?” she asked. Sydney looked startled. “You’re right, I did,” she admitted. “I guess I do need to help Elijah and pray for him. After all, he’s much more important than a little pig.” LP

32 How about you? Do you ever become bored with church and not understand? We all need to ask God for his help to keep us from wandering off, because we all need the warmth, fellowship, and love of God and caring Christians It starts with our heart for worship. Are we prepared to encounter God today?
