分词(一)
一、普通分词的功能 1、定语 一般规律: “单分”在前;“分短”在后 The applied(外加的) voltage(电压) is 220 V. The current(电流) consists of(由…组成) moving charges(电荷). This figure(图) shows(显示) a photograph(照片) of a freely(自由地) falling(下落的) body(物体). Copper(铜) is a widely(广泛地) used metal(金属).
Students using this book have completed(完成) a course(课程) in Mechanics(力学). The acceleration(加速度) of gravity(重力) is the acceleration imparted(给予) to a body(物体) by its own(自己的) weight(重量). 为了加强语气,单个分词(特别是过去分词)也可以作后置定语: The greater the force applied(外加的), the greater the acceleration. Hydrogen(氢) is the lightest(最轻的) element(元素) known.
The assumption(假设) made will affect(影响) the type of series(级数) obtained(获得). Finally(最后), some technical(技术的) problems(问题) remaining(留下) are outlined(概述). The acceleration of a body is directly(直接地) proportional(成比例的) to the force acting(作用). The resistance(电阻) of any circuit(电路) can be found(求) by dividing(除) the voltage(电压) applied to it by the current(电流) flowing.
注意有时会有现在分词的被动形式作后置定语,表示动作正在进行,但其含义在译文中不一定要表示出来: Electric(电的) and magnetic(磁的) forces operate(起作用) without(没有) any apparent(明显的) contact(接触) between the origin(起源) of the force and the body(物体) being affected(响应) by it. The system accuracy(精度) is determined(决定) by the time base(时基) stability(稳定度) of the counter(计数器) being used.
