By Alice

James is a good student and he has lots of friends, but he also has a problem. Some older boys are bullying him at school. James is very unhappy and he doesn’t know what to do about it. Here are some suggestions to him and other teenagers in this situation. 36. What do you think the text is trying to tell us? A. What to do about being bullied. B. How to be a good student at school. C. what to write well in a diary. D. how to give suggestions to teenagers.

2010 年江苏省镇江市 C 篇 The family planning policy ( 计划生育政策) was introduced in 1979 to solve the population problems. Most couples could have only one child except some special families and those in some special areas. 32. The first paragraph is mainly talking about_____. A. the population of China. B. the only child in China. C. the one child family. D. the family planning policy.

Once there was a piano player in a bar. People came just to hear him play. But one night, a lady asked him to sing a song. “I don’t sing,” said the man. But the lady told the waiter, “ I am tired of listening to the piano. I want the player to sing!” The waiter shouted across the room, “Hey, friend! If you want to get paid, sing a song!” So he did. He had never sung in public before. Now he was singing for the very first time! Nobody had ever heard the song Mona Lisa sung so beautifully!

He had talent he was sitting on! He may have lived the rest of his life as a no-name piano player in a no-name bar. But once he found, by accident, that he could sing well, he went on working hard and became one of the best-known singers in the US. His name was Nat King Cole. You, too, have skills and abilities. You may not feel that your talent is great, but it may be better than you think. With hard work, most skills can be improved. Besides, you may have no success at all if you just sit on your talent. 85. Which could be the best title for the passage? A. Sing in the Bar B. Achieve Success in Life C. Never Lose Heart D. Find Your Hidden Talent

Living in a foreign culture can be exciting, but it can also be confusing. A group of Americans who taught English in other countries recently discussed their experiences. They decided that miscommunications were always possible, even over something as simple as “yes” and “no”. 80. The passage is mainly about _____. A. body language in foreign restaurants. B. class discussion in Indian schools C. miscommunication in different cultures D. English teaching in other countries

In the West, some people believe that personality can be predicted according to the time of the year the person was born. From China comes the belief that the year of birth influences one’s personality. In the past century, a new belief has arisen: the idea that personality is related to one’s ABO blood type. People with blood type A, for example, are considered more likely to be serious, hard-working, and quiet, while people with blood type O are likely to be popular and outgoing, yet often unable to finish what they start. Though this belief continues to be strong, some people question whether it is true.

1.The writer uses blood type A and O as an example to explain _____. A. the difference between the two blood types B. the relationship between the two blood types C. the influence of blood type on one’s behavior D.the connection between personality and blood type

The blood-type personality theory( 理论 ) started in Japan in 1927 when Furukawa Takehi noticed personality similarities and differences among his workers. This idea soon went out of fashion, but was brought back by a Japanese television host named Toshitaka Nomi in the 1970s. The belief is still strong in Japan and is increasingly popular in neighboring countries. Some young Koreans have taken to the theory. A recent study showed 76 percent of Koreans aged between 13 and 64 believing in the blood-type personality connection. Though most Asians might believe in the blood-type theory, for many it seems harmless and not something to be taken too seriously.

2.What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 2 mean? A. It was lightly believed B. It was brought to them C. They liked and accepted it D. They stole the idea from others

Is the belief true? The scientist is Asia largely dismiss the belief as a modern-day superstition ( 迷信 ) 。 Most studies have failed to find any strong connection between blood and personality. Generally, scientists warn against making predictions or important decisions based on this questionable theory.

3.Which of the following is true according to the passage? A. Most scientists in Asia don’t believe in the theory B. The blood-type theory began in Japan in the 1970s. C. The blood-type personality theory is about blood type. D.People don’t change their personality to match the theory.

4.What is the best title for the passage? A. Is the blood-type theory popular? B.Is the personality changeable? C. Is it in your blood? D. Is it in your mind?

Just like the planers for the Beijing Olympics in 2008, the planers for the London Olympics in 2012 are making sure that the Games will benefit the people of their city. London is planning to hold the most environmentally friendly Olympic Games ever. For example, a wind turbine( 涡轮机 ) is going to be built to the north of the Olympic Park. London’s Olympic planers say that it will have blades ( 叶片 ) about 40 meters and that they plan to use it after the Games to deliver( 传送 ) energy to homes and businesses in the local area for at least 20 years.

London also plans to provide a clean modern transport system for the Games. A train called Javelin (which will travel at up to 225 km per hour) is going to link ( 连接 ) the Olympic Park with central London in just seven minutes. 2. People will go to the Olympic Park from central London by ____. A. Javelin B. Eurostar C. Channel Tunnel D. plane

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) plans to use the turbine to produce energy for the Olympic Park in East London. It is expected to produce the same amount of energy that 1200 homes use in a year. They’re also hoping to make a big impression on the thousands of visitors expected in London for the Games. It’s planed to be 120 meters high over the Olympic Park in East London when the Olympic Game take place in 2012.

According to the passage, which statement is NOT true? A. A wind turbine will be built to deliver energy B. The River Thames may be the source of hydro energy C. With the use of new railways, London will be greener in 2012 D. The ODA is an engineer who can build things for the Olympic Games

What is the main idea about this passage? A. The transport in London will be modern and perfect B. The ODA is hoping people will use solar energy and hydro power C. London will hold the most environmentally friendly Olympic Games D. After the Games the energy will be used for businesses.

此类题的题干不会出现与原文完全 相同的内容,常常伴随: may infer, can be/learn, suggest, guess…

A bus stopped. I got on and asked the driver how far she was going. “Ten more miles,” she said. There was another bus I could take from here. This clearly was going to be a long night. I got off at the end of the route and she told me which bus to look for. After waiting 30 minutes, I began to think about a very expensive taxi ride home. Then a bus came up. There was no lighted number above its windshield. It was out of service, but the door opened. It was the same driver.

59. Who is the passage most probably written by? A. parents who have bought phones for their kids B. some one who does cell phone business. C. a teacher who cares most about school safety. D. some one who works for children’s education

If you do get a cell phone, make some rules with your parents, such as how many minutes you’re allowed to spend on the phone, when you can use your phone, when the phone must be turned off, and what you will do if someone calls you too often, and so on. You ‘ll also have to learn to take care of the phone in your life. Keep it charged and store it in the safe place so it doesn’t get lost. And whatever you do, don’t use it in the bathroom. I know someone who dropped her phone in the toilet!

So how can you make things easier on yourself? It’s easier than you think. Just make sure your parents know what you’re doing. Get them to know your friends. Phone if you stay somewhere else so that your parents don’t call every hospital in the phone book for your body. Say sorry to tem when you make mistakes. Take responsibility for what you have done. Talk about your ideas with them. They may talk about theirs with you. Most of all, try to think about why your parents do this or do that.
