Paragraph 1: Some common things found around your house… 原句為Some common things (that are) found around your house 關係代名詞省略後,關代所引導之子句的動詞必須改為分詞片語:N + Ving或N + Ven。例: ► The man talking over there is from England. The man who is talking over there is from England. ► The box painted black looks heavy. The box that is painted black looks heavy.

a few 一些,幾個 a few用來修飾可數名詞的複數形。 party. 比較:
形容可數名詞 a few + 可數名詞 一些,幾個… (有肯定含意) few + 可數名詞 只有幾個… (有否定含意) a great number of + 可數名詞 很多 ► I have a few friends in this town. ► Greg is not popular. He has few friends. ► There were a great number of people joining this party.

形容不可數名詞 a little + 不可數名詞 一些 (有肯定含意) little + 不可數名詞 只有幾個---(有否定含意) a large amount of + 不可數名詞 (很多) ► Don’t worry. We still have a little time. ► The seriously ill man only has little hope. ► Bill made a great amount of money by writing computer programs.

Paragraph 3: How easy it is to improve the taste! 本句為how引導的感嘆句 It is very easy to improve the taste.

if conj. 如果表達與現在事實相反或者不可能 發生的事情時,if引導的假設句時態 用過去式, 若是表達有可能發生的情況時,則用 現在式。故課文中if所引導的句子時態 為現在式。

不能與one連用的限定詞包括所有格代名詞(my、his、its等)、量詞(some、several、a few、both、a number等)和不定冠詞(a)。
