3 公主的命运 It was a tradition that emperors marry their daughters or nieces to the leaders of the minority tribes. Princess Wencheng was married to the king of Tibet in 641 A.D. in Tang Dynasty and brought Han culture and technology to there which improved the living standards of local people. She lived in Tibet for 40 years till her death, and was loved by Tibetan people. Her statue is still in many temples in Tibet today. It is said that the Tibetan king’s messager was tested several times before the Tang Emperor decided to send the princess to Tibet.

4 Fate of Emperor’s Daughters
A lot of princesses ended up marrying kings of tribes in remote areas and were used as political tools to better the relationship with those tribes. Some luckier ones married their father’s officials or their sons, most of who were actually reluctant to have a princess in their family. There wasn’t any princess who became an emperor. Princesses of Tang and Han Dynasties usually lived a better life and were more powerful and influential. 丹阳公主:唐太宗的妹妹,嫁给了薛万彻,传说驸马“不会人道”  唐公主 “你我都是先皇的骨肉,为什么你有后宫三千, 我只有驸马一人”?
