1 Review and Analysis of the Usage of Degree Adverbs
in “Chinese Inter-language Corpus” Our research is based on problems found in Chinese Inter-language Corpus, which offers us a new angle of degree adverbs research. This paper consists of three parts: In the first part, the basic ideas, methods, and frame of the research are discussed. In the second part, mistake types of degree adverbs are summarized and concluded. In the third part, the corresponding teaching methods are proposed.

3 Part one This research is based on the examples of degree adverbs in “Chinese Inter-language Corpus”. Every language material is analyzed to find whether it is a mistake or not.

Type one: semantic types of verbs phrases or verbs added to degree adverbs is wrong. 我【很】道歉你,我不得不告诉你 。 那只狼很快过来,给东先生很可怜又【很】喘气地说起来。 乔治先生【很】帮助了我 ,现在可以开车回家。 如果不得不选五个人的话,【最】考虑什么? 那时她的才华【十分】发挥,一个无名演员从此不举成名。

Common mistake types: Type two:when degree adverbs and adjectives modify nouns together, we should insert “de (的)” between adjectives and nouns. 于是,我花了【比较】长时间看电视。 那一天,晴天,但是吹着【比较】大风。 中国和俄罗斯之间同时有【比较】多共同点和差别。 中国与日本文化交流有【很】长历史。

Common mistake types: Type three:two degree adverbs can’t be used consecutively in Chinese. 正在看这个【多么】好美丽啊的建筑。 这些三十年经过了【真】很快啊! 中国的万里长城也是在世界上【最】很有名的一个地方。

Type four: degree adverbs and degree complements can’t be used together. 交谈后我妹妹【更】生气极了,然后她决定直接去校长那儿。 我走回去我的房间,但是因为风刮【很】大极了,门被风关了。 我兴奋说“这个风景【真】美极了”! In this sentence, “yue lai yue(越来越)” which means more and more is a phrase indicating degree, can’t be with degree adverbs . 她一直流了眼泪,越来越声音【很】大。

Type five:degree adverbs can’t be with adjective indicating state. 电视里的比我做的【更】绿油油。 天气比较凉快,气氛【比较】雾蒙蒙的。

Type six:degree adverbs can’t be with adjective duplication structure. 来中国的时候我发现了路上【非常】热热闹闹。

18 Only if we know mistake types well, fully analyze them and seek for reasonable explanations, can we find corresponding measures for teaching.
