Read the text and answer these questions Eighteen thousand different plant. Yes. Half of the world ’ s food comes from only three plants: rice, corn and wheat. We use the trees to make shelter, furniture, tables, chairs, beds and so on. How many plants can eat in the world? Does half of food come from rice,corn and wheat? What do we use trees to do?

 1 People use plants in many ways.  In 和 with 都是 “ 用 ” 。 In 指用方法，手段等，而 with 指用工具。  例如： I work out this problem in this way. We write with a pen.  2 …..eight thousand difficult plants in the world that people can eat.  That 引导定语从句，修饰名词 plants. 在定语从句中，被修是的  名词叫做先行词，引导词叫做关系代词或关系副词，如果被  修饰的词是指事物时，引导词用 that /which, 指人时用 who/whom/that.  例如： I know the man who/that is in the car. This is the book that/which I have ever read. 3 But half of the world ’ s food comes ….. 句中 half of 修饰名词作主语时， 谓语动词的形式由名词的单复数来决定。 例如： Half of students are girls. 4 We use wood from trees to build houses …. 句中 use … to do sth. 表示 “ 用 … 作某事 ” 例如 We use trees to make paper.

5 So is your desk. So + 系动词 be/ 情态动词 / 助动词 + 主语。这种结构表示与前者情况相同。 例如： He is a student, so is his sister. 6 Doctors use medicine to help sick people. Sick 和 ill 都是形容词 “ 病的 ” 。二者的区别在于： ill 只能作表语， sick 既 可以作表语，也可以作定语。 例如例如 例如 ： He is ill. So he is a sick man. 7 Is your shirt made of cotton? Be made of 和 be made from 都是 “ 由 …. 制成 ” 后面都跟原材料，二者的区别： Be made of 是在物体的表面可以看到原材料，是物理变化。而 be made from 则是不能在物体表面看到原材料。 例如： My shirt is made of cotton. This wine is made from grape.
