While-reading 1. Four students read aloud the reading context (請四位學習成就高的學生朗讀課文) 2. The other students have to take notes about the reading context (其他學生必須依據聽到的內容作重點整理)

While-reading 3. The teacher simplifies the context, and write down the key points on the blackboard, including ghost festival, children’s activities, and adults’ activities (老師簡述內容，並在黑板寫出段落重點，請學生回答。學生分組搶答並在黑板寫出key words)

While-reading 5.After the lecture, the students read aloud to understand the reading context. (老師講解後，最後學生大聲朗讀課文以了解課文內容) 6. Assessment: Students used the key words to make sentences (分組搶答，並用黑板上的key word造句 )

post-reading Characters: Narrator 1, Narrator 2, Mom, Dad, Grandma, Kid 1, Kid 2, Kid 3, and Kid 4  Narrator 1: Many people in Taiwan celebrate the Ghost Festival in the 7th lunar month. The Lin family is having dinner and talking about the Ghost Festival now. Kid 1 : Dad, people in Taiwan are celebrating the Ghost Festival. Do Americans also have a day for ghosts? Dad : Of course, they do. They have Halloween. Kid 1 : When is Halloween? Dad : It’s on October 31st.

post-reading Kid 2 : How do they celebrate Halloween? Dad : They go trick-or-treating in the USA. Kid 2 : What’s trick-or treating? Grandma : Children usually wear masks or costumes, and go door to door to ask for candy. They don’t go home until they fill up their trick-or-treat bags. Kid 3 : I’m so excited about Halloween. Kid 4 : I’m so excited about Halloween, too. Mom : Not only you but I am also excited about this holiday. I would like to go to a Halloween parade, and show off my crazy costumes.

post-reading Kid 3 & 4 : Like Spider-Man, monsters, Patrick, and Sponge Bob! Kid 3 : They really look funny and strange. Kid 4 : Yes, funny, strange and scary! Narrator 2 : Both children and adults love Halloween. Don’t you agree Halloween is a time for everyone to have fun and be creative?
