The wife and son of Huang Ching-fu, director of Taiwan Pineapple Corp., were released by kidnappers Thursday night after NT$21 million in ransom was paid, police said yesterday.

The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp Limited has appointed Paul Leech as executive officer of HSBC in Taiwan, effective March 1, 2002.Leech will succeed Stuart Davis, the current chief executive officer Of HSBC in Taiwan, who will become CEO of HSBC Bank Australia Limited in March.
