Two Different Worlds, One True Love
Part B :【歌曲賞析】 這是迪士尼卡通影片1995年《風中奇緣》(Pocahontas)的主題曲。電影改編自發生在美國本土17世紀的歷史故事,影片描寫了一個從歐洲隨同總督前來新大陸尋找黃金的白人上尉John Smith,與當地印地安部落首領的女兒Pocahontas之間的愛情故事。此片在迪士尼經典的卡通影片中是非常特別的一部,一是因為這是頭一次讓「有色人種」當主角,二是因為這是迪士尼的第一部悲劇。Pocahontas後來選擇留在家鄉帶領族人,John Smith則返回英國療傷,兩人在漫天飛絮中分離,徒留缺憾。

此片著名的插曲“Colors of the Wind”歌詞簡單,但詞意深遠,珍惜大自然的真意深入人心。故事裡白人對印第安人的種族優越感,以及人類和大自然彼此間的互動,都值得我們去深思,去重新定位。我們的家園現在不也面臨同樣的問題?為了追求經濟的「最高利益」,砍掉了樹木,破壞了草原;汙染了河川,恣意獵殺動物;致使愈來愈多物種滅絕,終至自食惡果。在鋼筋水泥裡過著「高等物種」的生活,在機器低鳴中享受「寧靜」,在不同形式的牢籠中體會「自由」,樂此不疲。早在1851年索瓜米希族的酋長西雅圖致美國總統富蘭克林的信中提到:「地球不屬於『我們』,『我們』屬於地球。」呼籲身為人類要摒棄自我為中心的態度,學會與大自然共處,不也是當今2007年因全球暖化嚴重,最受重視的課題。

迪士尼影片一貫的傳統有很重的音樂成分。艾倫.曼肯(Alan Menken)已為《小美人魚》(Little Mermaid),《美女與野獸》 (Beauty And The Beast),《阿拉丁》(Aladdin)譜出浪漫的音樂,他曾贏得六座奧斯卡獎,六座格萊美獎及十一座金球獎,這次再度出馬為《風中奇緣》配樂。填詞則由兩獲格萊美獎的史蒂芬.舒瓦茲(Stephen Schwartz)負責。電影中的歌唱版出自「美國音樂劇皇后」Judy Kuhn時而低沉時而高亢之聲;片尾版本(End Title)則由凡妮沙威廉斯(Vanessa Williams) 用靈魂式的唱腔來詮釋片中那種遺憾與感傷, 深沉、自由、浪漫,展露無遺。風之彩因而 獲得了第六十八屆奧斯卡最佳電影歌曲。

在風之彩這首歌曲中,Pocahontas對John Smith說,你們自以為擁有任何你們所踏上的土地,予取予求,但大地只是沒有生命的東西。在此生長的我認識這塊土地上每塊石頭、每棵樹和每種動物,它們都有生命、有靈魂、也有自己的名字。你們以為世間只有長相跟想法都跟你們一樣的人才能算人,但是你如果能夠試者了解「陌生人」的想法,將會有意想不到的收穫。你可曾聽過野狼對冷月的嚎叫?或問過山貓牠為何微笑?你能不能與山裡所有的聲音同聲歌唱?能不能彩繪出風的顏色?來吧,跟我一起在隱藏松林間的小徑上奔跑,品嘗大地賜予的甜美果實,在四周豐腴的大地上打滾;就這麽一次,不要想那些東西值多少錢。 風雨和河流是我的兄弟,蒼鷺和水獺是我的好友,我們 彼此緊密相連,就如同一個永遠沒有缺口的圓圈。楓樹 能夠長到多高?如果你把它砍倒,將永遠無法知道。不 論我們的膚色為何,即使可以擁有這片大地,但唯一能 夠擁有的也只有泥土,除非能夠放棄唯我獨尊的想法, 才能彩繪出風真正的顏色。
