They might fall asleep in class or while doing their homework. Many students cannot get enough sleep. Students have heavy workloads, poor study habits, or long commuting time. Many students have either a telephone or a computer in their bedroom.

Listening for cause and effect Scripts A recent survey in Beijing shows that many middle school students suffer from a lack of sleep. Scientists suggest that junior high school students should sleep at least nine hours a day and senior high school students no less than eight hours. However, many students cannot get enough sleep. Therefore, they might fall asleep in class or while doing their homework. So it is not surprising that they get lower grades than those who get enough sleep. Many students are short of sleep because they have heavy workloads, poor study habits, or long commuting time, according to an expert. Also, many students have either a telephone or a computer in their bedroom. As a result, they hardly go to sleep before 11:00 p.m., but they have to get up early to go to school.
